## Key takeaways
- Laser engraving is the most durable choice for powder-coated and bare steel and needs no ink.
- Screen printing is economical for one- to three-colour logos on larger runs.
- UV printing and UV DTF handle full-colour artwork and gradients at lower quantities.
- Sublimation needs a special white polymer-coated blank and suits photo-quality wraps.

The right logo method depends on four things: the surface, the artwork, the quantity and how the product will be used. Here is how the common options compare.

## Comparison at a glance

| Method | Best for | Colours | Durability | Typical cost driver |
| --- | --- | --- | --- | --- |
| Laser engraving | Powder-coated & bare steel | Single (metal or coat tone) | Excellent | Engraving time per area |
| Screen printing | Bold logos, larger runs | 1–3 spot colours | Very good | Number of colours/screens |
| UV printing / UV DTF | Full-colour, gradients | Unlimited | Good | Print area |
| Sublimation | Photo wraps on coated blanks | Unlimited | Very good | Special blank required |
| Embossing / debossing | Premium, tactile branding | None (shape only) | Permanent | Custom mould |

## Laser engraving

A fibre laser removes powder coat to reveal the bright steel underneath, or marks bare steel directly. There is no ink, so nothing can peel. It is our default recommendation for [handle tumblers](/products/tumblers/), [water bottles](/products/water-bottles/) and [shakers](/products/shaker-bottles/) that will see daily use and dishwashers.

**Watch for:** very thin lines below about 0.2 mm and large solid areas, which take longer to engrave and raise cost.

## Screen printing

Ink is pushed through a fine mesh onto the curved surface on a rotary jig. It delivers crisp, opaque spot colours — ideal for one- or two-colour logos on large orders.

**Watch for:** each additional colour needs its own screen and registration, and tapered tumblers limit the printable height.

## UV printing and UV DTF

UV-curable inks are printed directly, or onto a transfer film (DTF) that is then applied. Both handle full-colour logos, gradients and small text, which makes them popular for promotional runs and multi-design orders.

**Watch for:** ask for a cross-hatch adhesion test and a dishwasher test on your final coating colour.

## Sublimation

Heat turns special inks into gas that bonds with a polymer coating. The result is a vivid, photo-quality wrap that won't peel. It requires a white sublimation-coated blank, such as our [14oz sublimation camp mug](/products/mugs/).

## Embossing and debossing

A custom mould raises or presses the logo into the steel. It is subtle and premium, but tooling cost and lead time make it best for long-running programs.

## Preparing artwork

- Send **vector files** (AI, EPS, PDF or SVG) with outlined fonts.
- Give **Pantone references** for spot colours and powder-coat colours.
- Tell us the **logo position**: front, back, wrap, lid or base.
- Mention **care requirements** (dishwasher, outdoor use) so we can recommend a method.

We return a digital proof before sampling, and the physical sample shows exactly how the logo will look in production. [Start a project](/contact/) and attach your artwork.

## FAQ
**What is the most durable logo method for tumblers?** Laser engraving. It removes the powder coat (or marks bare steel) instead of adding ink, so there is nothing to peel or fade, and it survives dishwashers well.

**Can you print full-colour logos on stainless steel tumblers?** Yes. UV printing or UV DTF transfers reproduce full-colour artwork and gradients. For photo-quality all-over designs, use a sublimation blank.

**What artwork file should I send?** Send vector artwork (AI, EPS, PDF or SVG) with fonts converted to outlines, plus Pantone references for spot colours. We return a digital proof showing logo size and position before sampling.
